Murder Mystery with Lunch

The year is 1933 and you have stepped back in time aboard the British Pullman carriages of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express.

Love and intrigue is in the air as you meet all the suspicious characters embroiled in a truly romantic adventure. What is going on?  It's a mystery!  Something is afoot  so keep your eyes peeled and don't miss a trick!  A five course lunch lubricates the brain to help you solve the mystery.

 


Brunch & Afternoon Tea via Folkestone

Enjoy a delicious sparkling Bellini brunch on your journey to the traditional English seaside town of Folkestone.

After skirting the Kent coast, the train stops at Folkestone West where you are met by your guide who will accompany you on the coach transfer to 'The Leas' at Folkestone. On arrival you will have some free time (approximately 45 minutes) to stretch your legs. The famous mile long cliff-top promenade demonstrates how the Edwardian elegance of the town lives on.

On your return journey, an afternoon tea with a glass of champagne, along with a 1/2 bottle of wine per person, will be served.

Please note: the return journey to London may be delayed as the train also carries passengers returning from the continent. Passengers should bear this in mind when making plans for the evening or onward connections.

 


Oxford

Home to royalty and scholars, the 'Dreaming Spires' form but part of the absorbing history of this elegant town, from the Venice-inspired Bridge of Sights to The Ashmolean - Britain's oldest public museums. The ancient university buildings offer the perfect setting for compelling discoveries.


Canterbury

Canterbury CathedralYour journey today takes you to the ancient city of Canterbury which has welcomed countless visitors over its 2000 year history. Pilgrims have journeyed there for centuries to the shrine of Archbishop Thomas à Becket who was murdered in his own cathedral in 1170. 

A delicious Brunch with Bellini is served on the train on your outward journey.
On arrival at Folkestone you will be met by your guide who will accompany you on the coach transfer to Canterbury (about 20 minutes). Here you may join a guided walking tour of this delightful city (approximately one hour) which will end at the Cathedral. Entrance to the Cathedral is included for you to explore at your leisure. Any passenger wishing to visit the cathedral without doing the walking tour may do so by showing their VSOE tickets.

The coach will depart from Canterbury for the journey back to London Victoria. Please note the time shown on your tickets and itinerary for arrival back at London Victoria is estimated and may vary according to traffic conditions on the day.

 


York

A picturesque city of cobbled streets and crooked snickleways, Vikings and stained glass, beautiful York lies on its two rivers. Compact within castle walls, it boasts the largest medieval struture in Northern Europe, the wondrous York Minister.
