Vancouver & The rockies: Kicking Horse & Yellow Routes
The original Rocky Mountaineer two-day daylight rail journey follows the historic train route constructed over 100 years ago through Canada's Rockies. You will retrace the steps of early explorers travelling in comfort over bridges, through tunnels and alongside rivers and waterfalls. You can choose to travel eastbound or westbound between Vancouver and Jasper or Banff and Calgary. (1st Class)
Eastbound Itinerary
Day 1: Vancouver to Kamloops
Travel onboard from Vancouver to Kamloops in British Columbia's interior. En route you will pass through Fraser Valley and the scenic Fraser Canyon. When leaving the Fraser Canyon, the train will follow the Thompson River to the city of Kamloops. Overnight the Kamloops hotel.
Day 2: Kamloops to Banff or Calgary (Kicking Horse Route)
Continue your journey east to the Canadian Rockies. First, you will travel through ranchlands to Schswap Lake. Next, pass Craigellachie. Beyond Craigellachieis Rogers Pass with its tunnels, glistering glaciers, and snowcapped mountains. Before crossing over the Continental Divide into Banff National Park, the train will travel through the unique Spiral Tunnels in YoHo National Park. End your tour in Banff or continue to the Stampede City of Calgary.

Day 2: Kamloops to Jasper (Yellowhead Route)
Back onboard you will follow the Thompson River through the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains. Pass by Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies before entering Jasper National Park.
Westbound Itinerary
Day 1: Calgary or Banff to Kamloops (Kicking Horse Route)
Depart from Banff or the Stampede City of Calgary for Kamloops. A brief stop will be made in Banff before the train crosses the Continental Divide and passes through YoHo National Park. The next highlight is the Craigellache. As the train approaches Kamloops, it will follow the shoreline of Schuswap Lake. Overnight in a Kamloops hotel.

Day 1: Jasper to Kamloops (Yellowhead Route)
Leaving Jasper you will pass by Mount Robson. Beyond Mount Robson Provincial Park, the train will pass by the Thompson River until it reaches the town of Kamloops. Overnight in a Kamloops hotel.
Day 2: Kamloops to Vancouver
Continue your journey west from Kamloops and travel along the Thompson River to the Fraser Canyon. When leaving the Fraser Canyon, the train will travel through Fraser Valley to the city of Vancouver. End your journey in Vancouver.
Whistler & Coastal Mountains: Fraser Discovery Route
Introduced in 2006, a two-day journey through the diverse beauty of Canada's West. From Whistler, in the heart of British Columbia's Coast Mountains this journey takes you through the canyons, lush forests and ranchlands of the BC Interior to the mountain town of Jasper. You can choose to travel eastbound or westbound between Whistler and the Rockies resort town of Jasper. (1st Class)
Eastbound Itinerary
Day 1: Whistler to Quesnel
Travel onboard from the four-season mountain resort of Whistler to the charming rural town of Quensel. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the Pemberton Valley to the desert like conditions of the Fraser Canyon and the Cariboo Plateau. Highlights include the shorelines of Anderson Lake and Glacial fed Seton Lake, sweeping views of the Fraser Canyon and Deep Creek Bridge. Your journey follows the banks of the Fraser River into Quesnel, your overnight destination.
Day 2: Quesnel to Jasper
Your journey continues eastward to the Canadian Rockies and Jasper National Park. It follows the Fraser River north to the town of Prince George and travels through British Columbia . Entering the Rocky Mountain Trench you are surrounded to the north by rising rocky mountains and to the south by the Cariboo Mountains. Continue past Mount Robson and through the Yellowhead pass into the province of Alberta. Your journey ends on arrival at Jasper.

Westbound Itinerary
Day 1: Jasper to Quesnel
Travel onboard from Jasper in the Canadian Rockies to Quesnel. Pass through the Rocky Mountain Trench with the Rocky and Cariboo Mountains either side. Highlights include Mount Robson, Yellowhead Pass and Moose Lake. Your day ends by passing through Prince George and following the Fraser River into Quensel, your overnight destination.
Day 2: Quesnel to Whistler
Your journey continues to Whistler. Enjoy views of the Fraser Canyon and the Cariboo Plateau to the river canyons and lush farmland of the Pemberton Valley. Highlights include the Fraser Canyon, Deep Creek Bridge and the shorelines of Anderson Lake and glacial fed Seton Lake. Your journey ends at Whistler.
Tuesday 8 June to Saturday 19 June 2010
Day 1: Fly from London to Denver with transfer to our centrally located hotel.
Day 2: Today you will head to Georgetown.
Day 3: We now head south to Canon City and the Royal Gorge Railroad where lunch is served in the diner as you will follow the raging Arkansas River upstream through the Gorge.
Day 4: A short coach transfer to Manitou Springs before a morning ascent of Pikes Peak by cog railway. Aftertoon, drive through the Rockies to Leadville.
Day 5: Take a two and a half hour trip on the standard gauge preserved line, the far end of which is close to the Continental Divide - from here, streams flow east to the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic and west to the pacific. Afternoon, you will take a coach journey across the Poncha and Wolf Creek Passes to Pagosa Springs.
Day 6: Transfer to Durango for a morning steam train journey through the Animas Canyon to Silverton. Enjoy lunch here before returning on the train to Durango for coach transfer to Pagosa Springs.
Day 7: Today you will head to Chama, New Mexico and join the narrow gauge steam train on the Cumbres Toltec Railroad. After lunch at Osier, you will continue to Antonito where you will change to a standard gauge train for the remaining short section to Alamosa.
Day 8: Morning ride to Monte Vista and return. Afternoon at leisure in Alamosa.
Day 9: Journey to the town of La Veta and return. The full excursion ia under nine hours which includes two hours for lunch and leisure in La Veta.
Day 10: A visit to the Great Sand Dunes and then you will head back to Denver.
Day 11: Most of the day is free. Transfer to the airport in time for an evening flight to London where you will arrive the following lunchtime.
