This holiday explores the wide-open spaces, culture, and history of the Northern and Western Cape Provinces of the country. Visits to fair trade wine and fruit producers and a variety of other development projects help us to better understand life in this complex country.
After a few days in the university town of Stellenbosch, just outside of Cape Town we fly up to Upington on the edge of the Kalahari Desert in the Northern Cape. Here we visit dired fruit prodcuers on the banks of the Orange River before beginning our journey back down to Cape Town. On the way we enjoy time with different communities and some fairtrade wine groups. While travelling through the spectacular flowers in Namaqualand we stop to visit a small group producing fair trade seeds for FairPlay Seed.
The final third of the tour is spent in Cape Town where you will visit Robben Island, District 6, Kirstenbosch botanical gardens, Table Mountain, and Cape of Good Hope whilst also enjoying the beauty of Table Bay, one of the most memorable bays in the world.
